Feeding America San Diego relies on the support of over 13,000 volunteers annually to help make it possible to distribute over 22 million pounds of food each year. Thank you for your interest in volunteering and making it possible for us to continue to fight hunger in San Diego.
All volunteers in your family must be signed up for each shift online to participate. We do not allow walk-ins to ensure that we have plenty of work for all registered volunteers. If a shift says 'full' or 'reserved' it means that we already have plenty of helping hands and encourage you to select a shift that has enough spaces available for your entire family. Thank you!
•Closed-toe shoes are required. Tennis shoes or running shoes work great!
•The Distribution Center is neither cooled nor heated – we urge you to dress accordingly.
• Bringing work gloves is recommended, but not required.
•Wear proper work clothes that you do not mind getting dirty.
•Leave valuables in your vehicle or at home. No jewelry.
•Please no horseplay in the warehouse.
Youth Volunteer Reminders
• All volunteers must be 6 years or older.
•Volunteers under 18 years need a paper waiver with a parent or guardian signature on their first volunteer shift.
•Volunteers under 16 years must have a parent or guardian sign up and attend with them.
•Each volunteer must be registered online. Parents can register their children just like they did themselves, using the same email address but a different user name.
Volunteer Group Reminders
If you would like information on volunteer opportunities for 10 or more volunteers, please visit here.
If you are volunteering with an existing group, be sure to sign in with your unique join code provided ot your group. After you do your shift will change from 'reserved' or 'full' to the number of remaining available spaces.
Court Ordered Volunteer Reminders
All Court Ordered Volunteers must be cleared by the Volunteer Department prior to first volunteer shift. Contact the Volunteer Department at firstname.lastname@example.org with your request to volunteer as a Court Ordered Volunteer prior to your first scheduled volunteer shift. Hours will not be eligible for service letter prior to being approved by the Volunteer Department.
